I left a good job in the city
Working for the man every night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleeping
I was worrying ’bout the way the things might’ve been
~Tine Turner (yeah that babe)
After 6 and a a bit years working for the same company, I have packed it in to explore the wonderful world of wellness. Everyone and their mum is doing it – quitting their job to travel the world that is – and I have decided to jump on that bandwagon. The only difference is that I am more the yoga retreat type than the backpacker type. In London I spend as much of my free time as possible (when I am not stress sleeping) practicing yoga, buying over priced health foods from Planet Organic, sporadically attending crazy gym classes that I am not fit enough for, and generally trying to combat and undo the stress of climbing the career ladder.
Now that I am done with all that, I don’t just want to travel, I want to find time for all the things I never have time for. I want to draw, cycle, meditate and get my downward facing dog on. I will be learning to cook food in the rolling hills of Tuscany, co-ordinating volunteers at a refugee camp near Athens, meditating with monks in South Korea and practicing my savasana all over the world as part of my own personal wellness project.
